Happy Valentine's Day!

About the video

so uh…
What do you think?
Feels kind of cluttered right?

I don’t like how it turned out tbh
In my head, it seemed really cool to have tiktok splitscreen
but the overlay makes it so distracting…
I also feel like I could have picked better poses
that would have been more fitting to the setting
or just more attractive camera angles.

I’m also not sure whether the plot is clear enough.
It’s basically the first video I made
with a proper story with intro and stuffs.
The idea was that Earlette felt lonely,
some guy took advantage of that
and slowly build trust throughout the day
until it turned night time
where she was getting “taught” a few things
and 2 other guys joined in.
So the video is a recollection of the TikToks they took over the day.
Yeah, I shouldn’t have to explain this,
if the plot was actually clear :v

I also planed on making a day version of the seggs parts,
but after 40h of working on this project
I think I have invested enough time…
Not that I got too much of Earlette,
but I have been wanting to start working
on tutorials since the start of the year xD

I actually figured out how to parent in Blender now,
Basically, I can use a bone constraint:
Either Child-Of or Copy Transforms: Before Original (Full)
Sadly, I still need to adjust the position of the hands after importing
and animating the hands only works with copy transforms,
so it’s still kind of eh…

I spent a bit extra time in making the stage pretty,
looking for tricks to make the materials and lighting as good as possible
to make the video more immersive.
The night time version still feels like it could be better tho,
especially the flashlight.

What I have been doing

First month of the year is over
and I did some adjustments on how I work:

  • For one, I read Make Time.
    Pretty nice book overall,
    the concept is essentially just scheduling time everyday
    for the things that are important to you.
    So a single “Highlight” each day.
    Has been working out rather well for me as you can see :)
    (For MMD at least, still procrastinating a bit on other stuffs)
  • I adjusted my notion setup accordingly:
    I now have a page for ToDos specifically.
    It let’s me break up projects into smaller pieces
    and schedule when to do what “Highlight”.
  • I started time tracking with procrastitracker as well,
    so that I’ll be able to plan out ToDos better.
    Since ToDos have a relation to a project,
    I can even tell how much time I have spend on a project.

What I’ll be doing next

I receive plenty of ideas and suggestions regularly
and I want to make those as well eventually.
I have all those written down in Notion,
so if you have any more, feel free to let me know. ^^

The thing is, I want to focus on making a few tutorials next
like skin tight clothing and how I make extended loops.
And also, the next 6 months are more or less
IRL end game, I can’t screw this up…
I’m already screwing myself by writing this instead of doing other things :/
But if I somehow manage to pass,
I should have more time for MMD,
so I’ll do my best!

This basically means that there probably
won’t be another video for a while.
(I should make a counter on how often I have said this xD)
I have quite a few doodles again,
but I’m not sure whether it’s ok to just upload
a no-effort MMM doodles compilation without any shaders.
I have been told it’s fine but idk,
I kind of don’t want my videos page to be filled with doodles instead of videos.
Kind of wish there were separate tabs like on YouTube.
I think I’ll upload one soon-ishhhhh?
and ask whether that kind of video is ok or not.

Regarding the recent Iwara problems

For those that don’t have Stockhold Syndrome,
Iwara has been having server issues recently.
Cause for it was a bandwidth and storage upgrade
for the two main servers: Hime & Mikoto.

To make a long story short,
a lot of older videos were stuck in “Processing”,
which was caused by the old videos server Mikoto being taken down multiple times
to find the cause of some database overload bug
and some kind of other bug for some videos as well.
The videos still exist though,
so no worries about videos being lost.

My thoughts on this: I expected no less xD
The code base is broken beyond believe,
we all know it and that’s fine.
(Friendly reminder that there is only one Dev and one Admin,
both being volunteers :v)
I expected the upgrade to take a while
and so it does, but it seems to be slowly going towards it’s completion.

I kind of wish -S- would put more attention to public relations,
or just ask someone to help out with that.
Many users are confused and agitated in the forums
about the recent server problems
and I really think that could have been avoided
with just a bit more communication.

I have a bit more to say,
but I don’t want to ramble on.
I just hope that things will turn out well.

Oh, and one more thing:
I have put in a secret message into the video,
hidden in plain sight :3
